January, 2026 Can you believe it?!

Our first meeting is Saturday, January 10 at 9:00 a.m. We will meet at https://www.google.com/maps/search/3035+Sanders+Road,+Charleston+29414?entry=gmail&source=g. This is at the West Ashley Library location.

Non-members are always welcome!

January also brings the CABA bee class. It is the weekend of January 17 and 18. We need your help to present a segment of the class. There are excellent SCBA-Approved presentation resources, so you don't have to create the needed information from scratch. If you are willing to teach a module of the class, please contact Course Coordinator Rebecca Bills at .randrhoney@gmail.com.

January also means that it is time to renew your membership.  Go to charlestonbees.org, navigate to the top of the page and click Membership to RENEW.

Discounted Bee Packages and marked queens are also available to members in the CABA Store with weather-dependent deliveries projected for March 2026.

November 2024

It is time for the November meeting.  We will meet at 9:00 a.m. on November 9 at 901 Orange Grove Road, Charleston. After you drive through the gates, we meet in the building on the left.  Our speaker is Betsy Nemeth who will talk about planting for bees.

I am struggling with 2 parts of our mission for CABA.  One part is swarms.  Although we are hopefully done for 2024, I have had some people calling me multiple times to find someone to remove a swarm.  I always direct callers to our website, so if you signed up to be a bee wrangler, please check the website for swarm requests frequently.  If you wish to become a wrangler, please contact Jim Craig at jamescraig1952@gmail.com.

The second area is education.  If you would be willing to speak to a group or school, please let me know.  I do have a small group who have volunteered to speak, but it would be wonderful to have more.  The club itself has a box of materials to help with any presentation. When I have spoken to schools, the students want to see and touch equipment. You do not have to take live bees.

Our busy season for the club and for us as beekeepers starts in January.  During this quiet time, we need to be feeding our bees and refreshing equipment.

See you Saturday,
Teaky
